This species occurs primarily in the coastal plain and adjacent piedmont, along inland streams, and around temporary and permanent wetlands (Reay and Mitchell 1999). In South Carolina this frog is found from the coast to the piedmont.SUMMARY OF STATEWIDE PREDICTED DISTRIBUTION: The Pinewoods Treefrog has yellow or white spotting on the inside of the rear legs, but this characteristic might not be observed unless the frog is in the hand.ĭistribution: This frog ranges from southern Virginia, throughout penninsular Florida, and then west to Eastern Texas. The Green Treefrog is typically larger, can have yellow spots on its dorsum, and has a bold white stripe down its side with green on either side of the stripe. Similar Species: Due to its variability, the Squirrel Treefrog can be confused many species of treefrogs, but most commonly it is confused with the Green Treefrog and the Pinewoods Treefrog. When they are not active, they will often tuck themselves behind bark or rest on broadleaf plants such as cattails. Large choruses generally erupt at night, but can also occur during the day following a rainfall. Squirrel Treefrogs are most active during spring and summer when they breed. They are also one of the most common frogs to find around homes and buildings. Natural History: This frog is a habitat generalist and can be found in or near almost any wetland throughout its range, including slightly saline wetlands on barrier islands. Like other treefrogs in the genus Hyla, Squirrel Treefrogs have large toe pads and elongated limbs. Some individuals have a whiteish or yellowish upper lip that continues to a faded line along the sides of the body. The underside is pale and occasionally yellow-orange flash colors may be present on the inside of the limbs. Dorsally it can be green, gray, tan, brown, or any combination of these colors with faint blotches on its back. Description: This medium sized treefrog is highly variable in coloration. You can do this monthly (and if you get paid monthly, a monthly budget makes sense), but we get paid fortnightly, and I find it’s easier to budget for a pay cycle.īelow I take you through the steps I use to create a budget. That means you decide how you’re going to spend your pay before you get it. I use automation, so I don’t have to track every cent we spend.Ī budget is a plan for your pay.I couple my budget with a modern envelope system so I don’t have to worry about big bills throwing the budget.I have a “Yes!” buffer in my budget, which I’ll explain below. My budget is based on a pay cycle rather than a month. Here’s how the budgeting system I use is different: While the budget I use is similar to a zero-based budget, it varies in some critical ways. The good news is I found a better way to budget that turned failure into saving success. My accounting boss once told me that budgets aren’t meant to be followed, and that was a red flag for me. I know this sounds a bit dodgy, but I no longer think the problem was me the problem is how traditional budgets are built. That’s right! I failed to stick to my budget 100% of the time. I used to prepare an elaborate budget (because I used to be an accountant and still love spreadsheets) and then track my expenses to see if I stuck to my budget or not. You create another budget (again!?) and do it all over. The next step is to track all your expenses during the month to make sure you stick to your plan. This is good in that you’re being proactive with your money and making every dollar count.īut it can be hard to stick to and a lot of work because… In other words, every cent of your income is allocated in your budget to either savings, living expenses, or debt repayments. Income – Savings – Debt Repayments – Expenses = 0 It’s zero-based because when you take your expenses/savings/repayments away from your income, your budget should equal zero. Then you deduct your expenses from your income. In the standard zero-based budget, you create a budget every month by adding up all of your income and then adding up all of your expenses, savings and debt repayments. You should always consult a qualified financial expert when making money decisions to tailor plans to suit your circumstances.īut before I get into my system, let me briefly explain how the standard zero-based budget works. In this blog, I share my savings and budget planning and what works for us. It’s similar to the standard zero-based budget, but there are a few key differences that make it easier to manage.ĭisclaimer: This is general information only. In this article, I’m going to share a variation to the zero-based budget – one I find more effective for our situation. It was popularised by the American personal finance bloke Dave Ramsey. You may have heard of the budgeting system called a zero-based budget (if you haven’t, I’ll describe it below.) Looking for a way to create a simple budget that works? In this article I’m sharing the one that works for us. Other times they will be more specific, like “play Ariana Grande”, or “play something chill”.įor the voice system personalization, there is also a level of challenge for Spotify in terms of localization as well, because ‘play something chill’ can mean very different styles of music for people from different cultures. A lot of times, people will leave this selection to Spotify, where they might make vague requests like “Play chess playing music” or “Play pasta making music”. Especially with the rise of devices like Alexa, many people today use voice systems in their homes while doing chores, cooking, having dinner, playing games, having friends over etc. Voice Systems: Personalizing User Song Requestsīesides implicit and explicit signals mentioned above, Spotify also looks into contextual signals, where voice systems come in. If you type in j, you might get “Jessie J” based on your listening history, while someone else could get “J Balvin” based on what they listen. For example, if you type in “fr” to the search bar, Frank Ocean might show up for you, but for another person it might be Frank Sinatra. Spotify also regularly uses machine learning. That way, Spotify starts to understand our tastes and starts making suggestions. For this reason, they have an on boarding system just like Netflix, when you open the app the first time, the app asks you to select 3 or more artists you like. However, for them the challenge is that initially Spotify does not know anything about their users. Contextual signals are what kind of device you are on (mobile, desktop, Alexa etc) or things like what time of day is it, what day is it etc.įor Spotify, user acquisition is super important because their personalization system gets better with more users coming on board. Implicit signals are song skip rates, playlist adds etc. Explicit signals are song likes, or dislikes. When looking at user listening experience, Spotify looks for three different types of data: Explicit signals, implicit signals and contextual signals. How do these algorithms work, and how can you use them to your advantage to get new fans? Let's use Spotify as an example, and dive in: How Spotify Connects Users to Music: Explicit, Implicit and Contextual Signal Data These days, download and streaming services deploy various algorithms developed specifically to guess where your next favorite song might come from. Its been 4 years since frank has done an album.Walking into a record store 15 years ago, the most personalization you were likely to see was an alphabetized bin of artists and genres. Want to watch BlizzCon Online yourself? Then you'll want to get acquainted with the BlizzCon 2021 schedule, which outlines all of the major panels and presentations happening this weekend. BlizzCon 2021 kicked off today with announcements for all of Blizzard's biggest games like World of Warcraft and Diablo. It would also be fun to see the first original games as Blizzard Entertainment bundled up into a Blizzard Arcade Collection, which were Blackthrone and Warcraft: Orcs & Humans – were I to hazard a guess, I'd think The Death and Return of Superman will probably stay locked away in the vault forever. I'd say it would be reasonable to expect to see RPM Racing, The Lost Vikings, and Rock n' Roll racing revisited for a collection – Blizzard's first three games, operating under the name 'Silicon & Synapse'. You won't need to purchase a virtual ticket to watch any of the programming happening throughout the two-day festival. The company has been pretty transparent about its work on the game giving. Activision Blizzard reckons we won’t see it release until next year, but that doesn’t mean the gothic dungeon crawler will be. Diablo 4 looks set to headline BlizzCon 2021, so Blizzard will likely want to show off more than one new class. Where to Watch BlizzConline - Day 2 Begins at 12pm PST. Hellish new features, brutal challenges, and an indisputable return to darkness lie at the core of the game. You have to think that the company learned some lessons from Warcraft 3: Reforged, and will present some of its earliest games unaltered – preserved in amber (well, a Nintendo Switch cartridge case). The good news is that BlizzCon 2021 is entirely free. Diablo 4 is set to feature heavily at this year’s BlizzCon. Diablo IV is the newest incarnation of the genre-defining ARPG players have come to know and love. It's difficult to play many of the early Blizzard games today, so it would be fun to see some classics given a little love. At Blizzcon 2021, Blizzard revealed the latest glimpse at its upcoming RPG Diablo IV.The cinematic trailer introduced a previously-unannounced character class to the game: the rogue. With Blizzard celebrating its 30th anniversary, it would be wise to expect to see some games hauled out from the vault, dusted off, and given a revival for modern systems. The good ending involves the Island to stop falling and stay afloat, while Quote and Curly Brace are about to be crushed by the Seal Chamber's walls, only for Balrog to rescue them, as per Misery's orders, revealing their Heel-Face Turns when they were freed from the Demon Crown's curse, ultimately being friends with everyone. In Classic I'd also work on Ivy Etched Armor. Is there any quest I should focus on? I read there is one for a spell late game, but not sure if there is others that are worthwhile.Ĭall of Flame quest is the spell quest you're probably thinking of. There's some fletching advantages for going Wood Elf due to cultural fletching. Stat wise, Wood Elf or Human would be better. I plan on being a Half-Elf is there any benefit to choosing another race? What about Karana vs Tunare? I really want to be a bow slinger, is it viable to DoT the target and shoot the bow and maybe spam spells between arrows? Does the TLP have auto shoot?īow damage isn't viable in classic, and doesn't become viable until Luclin. Let me know if you’ve got any other questions, I’m happy to answer. You’ll want to use that often when tanking, and even when you’re not tanking it’s a good idea to keep it up in case a healer or chanter gets aggro - it’s better for you to die than them. You’ll also want to keep Flame Lick memorized, it’s massive aggro and only costs 15 mana. Your heals will be alright in classic, then garbage until PoP, where they start being alright again. Your standard DPS rotation is melee + Call of Flame on cooldown and your magic based dot (stinging swarm/drones of doom/drifting death). It’s a lengthy quest and the final kill requires a group, but the reward is a spell you’ll use all the way until PoP. The only really notable quest is the Call of Flames in Classic. Anything that doesn’t summon is easy prey for us, though. You won’t be doing much archery until Luclin, but autofire is in the game, and I’ve been impressed at how much stuff I’ve been able to solo by kiting or rooting with archery, albeit slowly. There aren’t any huge benefits to any race or deity, although if you’re planning to do fletching it will be a lot cheaper if you’re a wood elf or a Karana worshipper. In raids, you’ll primarily be DPSing, although in classic where everything DTs, as a ranger your job will be to take DTs because of your incredible threat generation with flame lick. In groups, you’ll spend most of your time tanking for the first couple of expansions, although rangers also do fair DPS and a passable job pulling, and I’ve even had a couple groups where I spent my time CCing with root. Even now in PoP I’m able to tank even in elemental planes without breaking a sweat. They have tons of utility and are surprisingly good tanks. I’ve played a ranger since day 1 of Aradune and absolutely love it.
